Liverpool head coach Arne Slot will reportedly resort to providing more game time to young midfield player in the 2025-26 season.
Prioritising squad rebuild has been the Reds’ main motive this summer after securing the Premier League title.
With signings made over £220 million, including last summer’s Giorgi Mamardashvili deal, the Merseysiders are the top spending English club this window.
However, they are yet to complete a few more signings to complete the overhaul, executed by the sporting director Richard Hughes.
While Hughes & Co.
takes care of the business end of all this, head coach Arne Slot has the demanding job of utilising all the players accordingly and allocating them with proper game time to keep the players satisfied.

For Slot, the biggest issue in the 2025-26 season is going to be giving each player an ample amount of time on the pitch.
It goes without saying that the big names will be getting the most of the playtime.
This will leave the youngsters with very little time to develop and shine.
But according to journalist Lewis Steele, young Liverpool midfielder James McConnell is set to play more minutes on the pitch under Arne Slot.
In a report published by the Daily Mail, the journalist was answering general LFC queries and mentioned the Dutch manager is a ‘big fan’ of the youngster, who will get an ‘Endo-type’ role in the coming days.
What he meant by that is similar to Wataru Endo last season, the 22-year-old might be featuring in the matches which are not very crucial or in the later halves of the matches where defensive solidity was needed.
The Japanese international appeared in 32 games in the 2024-25 season across all competitions, where he started only seven games.
He amassed 865 minutes, averaging 0.8 tackles, 0.4 interceptions and 0.5 clearances (stats via WhoScored).
McConnell, the player in question, started two and was subbed in for two games across all competitions, averaging 2.5 tackles, 2 interceptions and 1.5 clearances (stats via WhoScored).
If this claim from Steele is true, then we can see James McConnell feature for Liverpool more often under Slot next season.
